Start with the city where your trip actually ends

A journey to Delhi is different from a journey that continues elsewhere in India. Give the team your final destination before the search begins. If you need a domestic connection, compare the full itinerary, cabin and total elapsed journey rather than choosing the international fare in isolation.

For a family visit, include whether you can arrive in one city and return from another. For a meeting, specify the latest acceptable arrival and any limits on overnight connections. These details make it possible to compare practical alternatives without changing the brief halfway through.

Nonstop or a connection: which fits this trip?

Treat nonstop travel as a preference to evaluate against price, airports and dates. If you are open to a connection, ask for a second complete proposal with the stop, operating airlines and all local dates stated. Compare both proposals on the same traveler and baggage basis.

Ask whether every flight is on one ticket and whether baggage must be collected along the way. A separately booked onward flight needs its own risk and timing review. Do not assume the premium seat on the longest segment describes the shorter flight too.

Check the cabin configuration, especially on onward flights

Air India’s A350 introduction describes a 28-suite business cabin in a 1-2-1 arrangement with flat beds. That description identifies a product; it does not establish the aircraft on every U.S.–India departure. Request the scheduled configuration and seat map for each proposed flight.

Write your must-have features into the request: a fully flat seat on the long sector, direct aisle access, seating together or a particular airport. Separate essential requirements from preferences so the team can explain compromises clearly.

Compare the written proposals

Use the same requirements for every option. A lower headline total is not a like-for-like comparison if the routing, cabin or ticket rules differ.
